Privacy policy

Who we are

Namealoud is a free name-generator site. You can reach us through the contact form or by email at contact@namealoud.com.

We do not run user accounts. We do not ask for a password. We do not sell a paid “clearance” service. Generated names are drafts. Typing a name into a form is not proof of who you are.

What we collect

Generator forms

When you generate names, we store the tool you used, the filters you typed, the list we returned, the model name, the provider name, and the time. That record lives in our PostgreSQL database so we can show you the same list again and keep the product honest.

Do not paste secrets, passwords, identity documents, medical notes, or a child’s full legal name unless a bug cannot be explained without it. A generator form is not a private vault.

Rate limits

We hash a network address for short windows so one visitor cannot flood the generator or the contact form. We do not use that hash as a login, a profile, or an advertising identifier.

Contact messages

If you use the contact form, we store your name, email address, topic, message, optional page URL, and the time you sent it. We also email a copy to our contact inbox so we can reply and track corrections. We do not add contact messages to a marketing list.

Saved names on your device

The Saved page keeps a shortlist in your browser with local storage. Those names do not go to our database unless you also generate them through a tool. Clearing site data, using another device, or blocking storage will hide that list.

Technical logs

Hosting and our own error logs may record a page path, a status code, and a time when something breaks. We use that to fix the site, not to build a dossier on you.

How we use it

We use the information above to:

• Return generated names and keep a cache so repeat requests are stable
• Stop abuse of the generator and the contact form
• Reply to questions, bugs, privacy requests, and corrections
• Measure how the site is used, through Google Analytics
• Show ads, through Google AdSense, to keep the tools free
• Improve prompts, editorial pages, and obvious product failures

We will not sell name lists as a product. We will not rent contact emails. We will not turn generator inputs into public “meaning of this name” pages.

We keep generation records while they are useful for the cache and for debugging. Contact messages stay until we have handled them and no longer need a trail. Rate-limit hashes are only meaningful inside a short window.

Who else may see it

Prompts and filters are sent to the configured AI provider. Groq is the default. That provider’s terms and privacy policy also apply. If we switch providers, the same rule holds: do not put secrets in a name form.

Our database, hosting, and domain services process the data needed to run the site. Google processes data for AdSense and Analytics under Google’s policies, linked below.

We may disclose information if the law requires it, or if we must stop abuse that would harm the service or other people.

Google AdSense

Namealoud uses Google AdSense to show ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads on this site. Google’s advertising cookies let Google and its partners serve ads based on visits to Namealoud and to other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings. You can also visit aboutads.info. Ads do not change which names a generator returns. An advertiser is not an endorsement.

Google Analytics

Namealoud uses Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technology. It may collect pages you view, how long you stay, your browser and device type, a coarse location, the site or search that sent you here, and similar usage data. Google may process that information on servers outside the country where you live.

We use this to see which tools and articles are used, to find broken pages, and to improve the site. We do not use Analytics as a login or to sell a list of names.

You can block Analytics cookies in your browser. You can also install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Google’s own description of Analytics data is in the Google Privacy Policy and in Google Analytics privacy safeguards.

Cookies and saved names

The generators can run without an advertising cookie. Saved names use local storage on your device, not a Namealoud login cookie. Google AdSense and Google Analytics may set their own cookies, as described above. We do not control Google’s cookies or opt-out tools.

Children

Namealoud publishes baby-name advice for adults making a family decision. It is not aimed at children as a product. Do not submit a child’s full legal name, school, or contact details into a generator or the contact form unless that detail is required to explain a bug.

Security

We use HTTPS, hashed rate-limit keys, and a database that is not public. No website is perfectly safe. Do not treat a name form as a place for confidential files.

Your choices and requests

You can:

• Stop using the generators at any time
• Clear saved names in the browser, or use the controls on the Saved page
• Turn off personalized ads in Google Ads Settings
• Block Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on
• Ask us, through contact, to look at a contact message you sent
• Ask us, through contact, to correct a page

Because we do not run accounts, we may need your email and enough detail to find the right record. We may refuse requests that are abusive, unclear, or would put other people’s data at risk.

International visitors

The site can be read from more than one country. Data may be processed on servers outside the place where you live, including by our AI provider. If that is not acceptable, do not submit names or a contact message.

Changes

If the product changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top. Keep using the site only if the updated policy still works for you.
